While doing my daily browse of BestBuy.com today, I came across a new Super Man alarm clock that projects the time and an image of the Super Man “S” logo. The clock also features an AM/FM radio, but the most noticeable feature is a giant Super Man logo button on the top that functions as the “Snooze” button. It can be purchased for just $20 from Best Buy.

alcohawk.jpgThis holiday season we want to encourage all of our readers to enjoy themselves and stay safe, especially when drinking alcoholic beverages. This time of year sees an increase in DUI charges and dangerous or even fatal accidents caused by drivers who were intoxicated. Alcohawk has created a new digital breathalyzer that is the real deal and will tell you whether you can drive, or you need to get a ride or call a cab. The device is expensive retailing at $120, but this is not the BAC screener you use once and then throw away.

According to the manufacturers, this new gizmo has a professional-grade ABI (Alcohol Breath Indicator) is FDA-cleared and meets NHTSA (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) specifications for personal-use models and utilizes a state-of-the-art oxide sensor to quickly and accurately estimate your blood alcohol content. This gizmo is expensive, but it could save your life, or someone else’s. Off course you could avoid paying for this gizmo and simply designate a driver.

clocky.jpg

Clocky, the beloved rolling alarm clock from MIT that we have been hearing about for some time, is now finally on the market. This new alarm clock rings one time only and if you snooze or let it keep ringing without getting up and turning it off, it rolls away. That’s right, this alarm clock rolls away from your night stand or wherever you keep your alarm clock, and keeps ringing and flashing forcing you to get up and find it. I have a feeling people are going to end up getting really ticked off with these new alarm clocks… especially when they roll behind something that you can’t reach.

estarling_new.jpg

We have seen a number of digital picture frames over the past few days, but the eStarling is the first one that uses Wi-Fi and RSS technology to get updates from Flickr and automatically update the picture displayed depending on the subscribed Flickr feeds.

Simply do a search on Flickr for your favorite photos. Cut and paste the URL from the “RSS 2.0″ link at the bottom of the page into the eStarling software. You can even do multiple feeds at once. Once a feed is set-up Flickr photos matching your search criteria go into rotation on the frame. As new photos are posted to Flickr, they show up on the frame.

You can purchase the product and get further information from Think Geek. Of course the price for this technology isn’t cheap, and the “Flickr Picture Frame” will run you $250. Personally I think this is brilliant, especially for a heavy user of flickr or a photographer, the future truly is here..

notouch.gifPick pocketing has become a serious problem here in the UK, especially in the major cities like London and Manchester, it is especially rife on the London Undergound. Well, A korean company has set out to make a gadget to put a stop to this.
This new credit card sized gizmo fits nicely into any of your pockets and when someone tries to pick your pocket and light hits the card, a loud alarm is sounded to protect you and your belongings. Although, this is a cool concept, this product is probably a pain to use. If you accidentally reach into your pocket, the alarm will be triggered so this is not exactly the most practical security device created and I doubt it will even get to the marketplace.
You can get more details about the No Touch Alarm Card at the official website.

vaccum-shoes.jpg

Electrolux has been known for making some pretty outrageous vacuum gadget concepts in the past, so it isn’t really much of a surprise that the company has created a working prototype for a pair of vacuum shoes that suck up small objects you walk over.

This may not be the most practical gadget and I’m not sure how many people want shows that “suck up” just about anything they step over, even inside the house. Regardless, if the product ever comes to the marketplace, we will let you know.

kenpo.jpgAfter seeing the buzz generated by the new Nike+ that allows you to connect your iPod to your running shoes, many clothing companies have been looking for a way to integrate the iPod into their clothes. Today, we came across the $150 Kenpo iPod Jacket that has iPod media controls (play, pause, fast forward, rewind) built into the left sleeve. No batteries are required and the Kenpo iPod Jacket is actually a good jacket that will keep you warm and relatively dry in bad weather conditions making it a good deal at $150 even without iPod integration.

The self-parking Lexus was a great cool idea at first that got rave reviews from car and tech news sources from around the world. However, as more and more people tested Lexus’s self-parking feature and saw that it doesn’t work as well as one would have hoped, many people have lost interest in the $50,000+ car.

However, one self-parking fan took the time to build a self-parking Lego car and off course, videotaped it and uploaded to YouTube. If you want to see this new self-parking Lego car in action visit youtube.

Here at Tech.NewsThis.com, we love new wierd gadgets and gizmos and who is king of the wierd ? Why, the Japanese of course. Today, we bring you a new product from Chuo Sangyo, which allows you to cook your breakfast using one device and one electrical outlet.

This new product has a toaster for heating bread and making toast, a coffee pot, and an egg fryer, all built into one, easy to use, kitchen gizmo. No word on pricing or when this product will come to the US.

Why you would need this gadget is beyond me, whats wrong with using the kitchen ? Maybe you could have it next to your bed, but are people really that lazy that they cant be bothered to get up and make breakfast? Dont answer that actually.

homepage-gloves.jpgFor those of you who are gardeners, I present “Bionic Gloves”. These “Bionic Gloves” won’t help you fly or give you super strength, but for gardeners, efficiency is key and that is exactly what these gloves improve. With these special bionic gloves you get (in the words of the manufacturer) “better wrist support, better grip strength, and strategically placed grip pads”.

If you want these “simple yet revolutionary” gloves, you can visit the company’s official home page.

And yes, we were disappointed as well when we found out these bionic gloves were actually just plain gardening gloves with a fancy name and a high price tag.

Intempo has gone retro with their newest iPod dock. The dock is built for the iPod Nano and comes in metallic silver, green, blue, and pink to match whatever color iPod Nano you have. Unfortunately, there is no red version of this dock.

It looks pretty good, especially for colored Nanos, but if you have a white or black colored Nano and are looking for a more “sleek and modern” look, this is probably not the dock for you. If you are interested, its pretty cheap at $69.

The Zune may be getting trashed by most major tech media outlets, but Amazon customers still think enough of it to vote it as this week’s Deal of the Week. The Zune normally retails for over $200, however, Amazon will be selling a limited quantity of the MP3 Player for just $90. Only 1000 units will be available at this price and Amazon has changed to a lottery system so everyone has an equal shot at getting the deal.

The Zune, which has been struggling in terms of sales, faced a TMX Elmo, a WowWee Roboreptile Robotic Reptile, and a George Foreman grill. If anyone wants one of these deals, you will have to vote for them. (Just note that you can only get the deal you vote for and those who do not vote can only get the deal which received the most votes.)

The iRiver S7 is going to be the next Mp3 player from iRiver and it looks pretty good. The iRiver S7 Mp3 player measures close to 40 x 32 x 9.6 mm and is very similar to the dimensions of the new iPod shuffle. As a matter of fact it is even thinner than the shuffle. The iRiver S7 weighs close to 15 grams which is really light.

The iRiver S7 is a very different player on appearance. The design is good and complete but it comes with fast forward and rewind buttons in the form of human pictures as you can see in the photo. Yes, this is no skin or cover it is how the player is made. The Chicken on top should be representing volume up and the dog standing for volume down.

This MP3 player can play SF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA and many other audio formats which is not a worry at all. The only problem seems to be a missing pause button. The player comes with an inbuilt FM Radio which will accompany you on your long journeys when you are bored of your own music collection.

eleksen-carrypad.jpg

Elekson has made yet another gadget protecting bag; however their bag is different from most of the others in the marketplace. Instead of only protecting your gadgets, the new Elekson prototype doubles as a soft keyboard that you can use with any gadget that would require a keyboard. This product doesn’t really make sense for laptops, which come with a keyboard and large, easy to use keys, but if it could be used on PDAs or any other device with a QWERTY pad, it may be of some use.

Still, pushing down its soft cloth keys must present some sort of problem.

Technology has had an influence on almost every aspect of our lives and now, Ukranian scientist Dr. Hryhory Chausovsky, has created technologically advanced plates that help you stick to your diet.

These new plates, known as Smart Plates, tell you when you are putting too much food on and even gives messages like “stop right there”. The plate uses embedded weight sensors and even though it is very easy to get around the system and load up on light foods that are not healthy for you like potato chips, the Smart Plate is a pretty good way to control how much you eat and cut off a few extra pounds.

stiletto_sl101.jpgWell the new Sirius Stiletto 10 has launched and even though this is a pretty nice looking portable XM Satellite radio, it is being trashed by many major gadget news networks and I can see why. The $250 system doesn’t allow you to store your MP3 songs, does not have Wi-Fi, and only allows users to record 10 hours of XM Radio content.

Although I love the variety XM Radio offers, $250 is too much to pay for a portable audio player that cannot even play MP3 files. If you are for some reason interested, it is sold out online but can be bought at many electronic stores where Sirius products are sold.

max-ivy_440.jpg

Maxfield has introduced a new MP3 player which is the MAX-IVY. This player is available in various capacities. The player is extremely sleek and the design is simply too good. The MAX-IVY comes with a 1.8 inch TFT-LCD display with a illuminated touch screen buttons.

The MAX-IVY has a photo viewer and along with this it supports all type of audio media. The supported formats include MP3, WMA and OGG. The MP3 player will be available in 1GB which costs around $185 , 2GB which will be $235 and the maximum capacity one is the 4GB player which will set you back close to $335. The player at this point in time does not have support for video files, so you will have to stick to your iPod videos for that. On the whole it is a decent alternative to the iPod since it has a longer battery life too. The battery lasts for over 14 hours on a single charge which is pretty good.

The MAX-IVY player also supports .lrc files, which means you can read the lyrics whilst listening to the songs on the player. The release date for the player is not yet known but we will be waiting for the launch.

The device charges all your gadgets and gizmos, but instead of using a wire, it uses a plate that uses EM Waves to charge everything on it. The company hopes to have this product in stores sometime during the first quarter of 2007, but there are concerns over safety so this device does have to get approved by a Federal Commission. If we get any more details regarding the Wild Charge, we will update you.
